The Purpose!

Humans have been trying to find the purpose of their existence for centuries. If we look back into the history of the universe, we can see a beautiful process of formation of this universe. It is amazing to see the creation of this world from nothing. It all started 13.8 Billion years ago. Before that, what was there? No-one knows! So many scientists have been trying to find what was there before the big bang. Stephen Hawking put his theory of the beginning of time! Time itself began 13.8 billion years ago! So, what was there before time!!? These questions challenge the intellectual limits of a human being. We are trying very hard to find answers to the questions like these. If we see the time span of 13.8 billion years, it is way too much as compared to a human life span. But it is only the beginning stage of the universe! It is estimated that the universe will expand for thousands of trillion years. So, we exist only for fraction of time as compared to the time span of the universe.

This leads me to a weird thought! Life on the Earth came into existence because of a coincidence. A huge mars sized body hit a big planet-sized entity called 'Theia' some billion years back and from that point, the roots of life started to began on earth. At the same time, our Moon was formed. Proofs of first living organism can be found around 3 billion years back. It was unicellular life and was formed in water. Does that mean our existence in this huge universe is nothing but a coincidence? We are nothing but a by-product of this process?

Another weird thought which comes in my mind is, what if stars and the planets are the actual entities who belong here? Because I mentioned above that the average human life span is nothing in front of the time span of the universe. It is estimated that the universe will be there for trillions of years from now on. And no one knows if the human race could exist for that long or not.

Now, a question comes in my mind. Why do we exist? Like, really!! Why do humans exist at all? We live, we produce some other humans like us and we die. We do nothing other than this if you see our existence to a universal level. So, what is the significance of human life in this universe? So many people are searching for the answer to this question. I am one of them.

The second question comes in my mind is Are we alone? Carl Sagan quoted that ' Either we are alone or we are not, both possibilities are horrifying! ' Humans have been searching for alien life for decades! We haven't found anything yet. There are so many reasons behind it. One of the major reason is the lack of advancement in technology. We cannot travel so fast in space. Highest speed achieved by humans in space is around 40,000km/hr. Now, it looks too much but it would take around 6 months to reach Mars with the same speed. So, if we need to find some habitable planets, we have to be strong in technology. Even the fastest object made by humans i.e. Voyager 1 is travelling with the speed of 17Km/s. With this tremendous speed, it will take nearly 40,000 years to reach the nearest star i.e. Alpha Centauri. So we can say that humans are at the very beginning of their galactic journey. A huge amount of technological advancements are needed to explore this universe. And once we start exploring, we might find our answers. Who knows right? We might find some species like us. Or someone totally different than us! By the way, the definition of Living Beings is decided by humans itself! So we don't know if there are some very different species which exist. Some examples might be, the species who can breathe carbon dioxide. Oxygen is harmful to them. Or they directly read the minds. Just as shown in Amir Khan's movie PK.
Possibilities are endless. Who knows if the coincidence by which we exist was the only one? It might have happened somewhere else as well! In the end, I can only say that exploration is going to lead us towards the answers. For exploring, technical advancements are must! Humans are far away from the answers they are looking for. But I'm sure we will definitely find the answers one day!
